Our story
Why we built Istighfar
Istighfar started with a simple idea between friends: what if we could keep each other accountable?
We all know the feeling. You set an intention to seek forgiveness, to keep your tongue moist with the remembrance of Allah, to make istighfar a daily habit. Then life moves on, the days pass, and the habit slips. It’s so much easier when you’re not doing it alone.
That’s the heart of Istighfar: a circle of friends, linked together, gently holding each other to it. You set your own goal. You count your istighfar, by tap or by voice. And the few people you trust most can see your progress, cheer you on, and send you a “lock in” nudge when you need it. Not pressure, just support, the way the companions encouraged one another toward good.
The Prophet ﷺ, reported in Sahih al-Bukhari & Muslim
What we believe
- Consistency beats intensity. A little every day, held together with friends, goes further than a burst alone.
- Privacy and trust. Your worship is between you, your Lord, and the friends you choose. No public feeds, no strangers, no ads.
- It should be free. Istighfar is free for everyone, built as a sadaqah jariah. We hope every istighfar counted becomes a continuous charity for all of us.
Our hope
Our prayer is simple: that Istighfar helps you and your circle turn back to Allah a little more each day, that it makes seeking forgiveness a shared and joyful habit, and that Allah accepts it from us all and writes it in our scales. آمين.
“O believers! Turn to Allah in sincere repentance…” (Qur’an 66:8)
